An iconic image of a mountain. Difficult to scale. Inhospitable, yet inhabited at the camera. Scales of thousands of meters, four here, eight there. The source of rivers, and valleys. The planetary crust pushed up. Above the treeline, no plants. Very few people. Snow on rock. Bright, unpolluted skylight. Technical Details: The photograph used in this artwork was taken in the mid-1990s, from 4,000m altitude in the Annapurna Sanctuary, at Annapurna Base Camp, in the Nepalese Himalaya. It is a six day trek to reach the sanctuary. So named for its 360 mountain peak, quiet enclosure. The view is of Annapurna I, at over 8,000m. The medium used was 35mm photographic film. Huinchilli, home of the Yeti, the Abominable Snowman, is here, Ganjapurna, the source of the in/famous river ganges is here, Machapuchare, the fish tail mountain also.
